We meet on Sabbath because it is GOD's appointed day for rest and assembling. Sabbath begins at sunset Friday and goes through Saturday at sunset. The Creator made this appointed time for our benefit and blessed the day (Gen 2:1-3). The sabbath is also a sign of the covenant between GOD and His people. "And the LORD said to Moses, “You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you." (Exodus 31:12-13)
The Sabbath pre-dates Jews, Israel, and even Noah. In the beginning, GOD established Sabbath and placed a blessing on that time space (Genesis 2:1-3).
It was later that GOD instructed Israel about Sabbath after delivering them from bondage in Egypt. (Exodus 16:11-36, Exo 35:1-3, Lev 23:1-3, Num 15:32-36)
GOD declares Sabbath as one of the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5)
GOD says the Sabbath is the Sign of the Covenant (Exodus 31:12-18)
Throughout the old testament, GOD disciplines Israel when they forsake the Sabbath. He raises Nehemiah to restore Sabbath (Nehemiah 13:15-22)
GOD uses the prophet Isaiah to illustrate that GOD's salvation will be for all and those will be blessed by embracing Sabbath (Isaiah 56:1-8, Isaiah 58:13-14) Likewise, the prophet Jeremiah encourages keeping Sabbath (Jeremiah 17:19-27). Other prophets also mention Sabbath (Ezekiel 46)
JESUS was confronted by religious leaders about keeping Sabbath (based on the extra rules that man added to the command). HE didn't make the Sabbath null and void. In fact, he claimed lordship over the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-14, Mark 2:23-3:6, Luke 6:1-11, Luke 13:10-17, John 5:1-47)
The Apostle Paul and the early church clearly kept and promoted the Sabbath (Acts 13:13-44, Acts 16:13, Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4)
JESUS says that before HIS Return, there will still be winter and Sabbath (Matthew 24:20)
During Messiah's 1,000 year reign (after the great tribulation), people will learn Torah (Isaiah 2:3, Micah 4:2)
GOD says that we will still keep Sabbath after HE creates a new heaven and earth (Isaiah 66:22-24)
A quick Internet search (Article 1, Article 2, Article 3) will reveal that man (not GOD) changed the day from Sabbath to Sunday around the time of Constantine.
We haven't found any Bible passage where GOD says to change the day of rest. Therefore, we presume it is still valid and for our benefit.
It is our testimony that GOD has blessed us after taking the step of faith to honor and keep the weekly Sabbath. We pray that you would also embrace GOD's set apart day and find new, over-flowing blessings there, too.
GOD has described HIS appointed times. While often thought of as "Jewish" festivals, the Almighty calls them HIS. "And the LORD said to Moses, “You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you." (Exodus 31:12-13). In addition to the weekly Sabbath, seven annual appointed times (or moedim in Hebrew). In the spring, is the "Passover", "Unleavened Bread" and "First Fruits". Yeshua (Christ Jesus) fulfilled these to the detail on His first coming. 50 days after First Fruits, is the "Feast of Weeks" (or Pentecost), where the Holy Spirit was poured out upon worshippers. The last three moedim are in the fall and are a picture of Messiah second coming. They are the "Feast of Trumpets", "Day of Atonement" and "Feast of Tabernacles". (See more)
We follow the dietary guidelines outlined by the Creator in Leviticus 11. HE intended these instructions for our health and well-being. In summary, we eat birds except for the ones which feed on dead animals (vulture, owl, eagle, etc.). From the water we eat fish which has fins and scales. From larger animals, we eat those animals which have a split hoof and chew the cud (which means no camels, pigs, rabbits, etc.).
