Please plan to join LAMB for some or all of Sukkot this year. Click on the button below to indicate your intention to attend which helps us plan.
Biblical holidays (see Leviticus 23) are GOD’s shadow pictures of His plan.
Yeshua (Jesus) fulfilled the spring and summer festivals (Passover, Unleavened Bread,
First Fruits, and Pentecost) during His first coming and will fulfill the remaining fall feasts when He returns again. Those Fall events are Yom Teruah (Day of Trumpets), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles / Booths / Ingathering).
GOD earnestly wants us to participate in the annual rehearsals and remembrances.
Join us this year to understand the Biblical shadow pictures.
Yom Teruah is the first fall feast – it marks the start of the fall feast season. Teruah means to make a loud noise, which is why Yom Teruah is also called the “Day of Trumpets” or the “Day of Shouting.”
It is a two-day period of watching to spot the new moon, which starts a new month.
The trumpet sounding is a feature of the return of the LORD with power and great glory. (see 1 Thes. 4:15-17)
WHAT GOD SAID:
Lev 23:23-24 And the Lord said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, let there be a special day of rest for you, a day of memory, marked by the blowing of horns, a meeting for worship.
MESSIANIC SIGNIFICANCE:
2 days treated as one because no one knows the “day or the hour” when the new moon will appear.
Mark 13:32-37 Take care, keep watch with prayer: for you are not certain when the time will be. It is as when a man who is in another country for a time, having gone away from his house, and given authority to his servants and to everyone his work, gives the porter an order to keep watch. So you are to keep watch: because you are not certain when the master of the house is coming, in the evening, or in the middle of the night, or at the cock's cry, or in the morning; For fear that, coming suddenly, he sees you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all, Keep watch. (see also Mat 24:36-51)
It occurs on the 10th of this new month. Most Biblical holidays are joyous times. This day, however, is a sober one. The Bible says it is a day to “afflict one’s soul”, which usually means fasting. It was the only day of the year when the High Priest would go behind the veil into the Holy of Holies and sprinkle blood on the Ark of the Covenant mercy seat. (see Exodus 30:10)
WHAT GOD SAID:
Lev 23:26-32 And the Lord said to Moses, The tenth day of this seventh month is the day for the taking away of sin; let it be a holy day of worship; you are to keep from pleasure, and give to the Lord an offering made by fire. And on that day you may do no sort of work, for it is a day of taking away sin, to make you clean before the Lord your God. For any person, whoever he may be, who takes his pleasure on that day will be cut off from his people. And if any person, whoever he may be, on that day does any sort of work, I will send destruction on him from among his people. You may not do any sort of work: this is an order for ever through all your generations wherever you may be living. Let this be a Sabbath of special rest to you, and keep yourselves from all pleasure; on the ninth day of the month at nightfall from evening to evening, let this Sabbath be kept.
MESSIANIC SIGNIFICANCE:
Messiah makes atonement for us (corporately) after having already made available individual atonement for us on HIS first coming as the “suffering servant”
It is an eight-day period remembering how GOD brought His people out of slavery .
WHAT GOD SAID:
Lev 23:33-36 And the Lord said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month let the feast of tents be kept to the Lord for seven days. On the first day there will be a holy meeting: do no field-work.
Every day for seven days give an offering made by fire to the Lord; and on the eighth day there is to be a holy meeting, when you are to give an offering made by fire to the Lord; this is a special holy day: you may do no field-work on that day.
MESSIANIC SIGNIFICANCE:
The festival with Him to start His 1,000-year Messianic reign as King on earth!
Yeshua (Jesus) celebrated it: John 7:37-38 On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus got up and said in a loud voice, If any man is in need of drink let him come to me and I will give it to him. He who has faith in me, out of his body, as the Writings have said, will come rivers of living water.
Kept After His Return - Zechariah 14:16-17
And it will come about that everyone who is still living, of all those nations who came against Jerusalem, will go up from year to year to give worship to the King, the Lord of armies, and to keep the feast of tents. And it will be that if any one of all the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to give worship to the King, the Lord of armies, on them there will be no rain.
